Carbon Steel Pipeline Introduction

new_副本

Carbon steel pipe is a tubular steel made of carbon steel as the main raw material. With its excellent comprehensive performance, it occupies an important position in many fields such as industry, construction, energy, etc., and is an indispensable key material in modern infrastructure construction and industrial production.

Material characteristics of carbon steel pipe

The core components of carbon steel pipe are iron and carbon, among which the carbon content is an important indicator to distinguish its performance. According to the carbon content, it can be divided into low carbon steel (carbon content ≤ 0.25%), medium carbon steel (0.25% – 0.6%) and high carbon steel (> 0.6%). Low carbon steel has good plasticity, high toughness, easy processing and welding, and is often used to manufacture pipes that require good formability and weldability; medium carbon steel has moderate strength and hardness, and has certain toughness, which can be used for structures with medium loads; high carbon steel has high strength and hardness, but low plasticity and toughness, and is more used in special scenarios requiring high strength.

Classification of carbon steel pipes

• According to the production process, carbon steel pipes can be divided into seamless carbon steel pipes and welded carbon steel pipes. Seamless carbon steel pipes are made by hot rolling or cold drawing, without welds, and have higher pressure resistance and sealing properties, which are suitable for high-pressure fluid transportation and other scenarios; welded carbon steel pipes are made by welding steel plates or steel strips after curling and forming, which are relatively low in cost and suitable for low-pressure fluid transportation, structural support and other needs.

• According to the purpose, it can also be divided into carbon steel pipes for transportation (such as conveying water, gas, oil and other fluids), carbon steel pipes for structures (used for building frames, brackets, etc.), carbon steel pipes for boilers (need to withstand high temperature and high pressure), etc.

Advantages of carbon steel pipes

• High strength, can withstand greater pressure and load, and meet the mechanical requirements of various structural supports and fluid transportation.

• High cost performance, wide source of raw materials, mature production process, lower cost than other pipes such as stainless steel, suitable for large-scale applications.

• Good processing performance, can be flexibly processed by cutting, welding, bending, etc., to meet the installation needs of different scenarios.

Application fields of carbon steel pipes

In the industrial field, carbon steel pipes are often used to transport steam, oil, natural gas and other media, and are important pipeline materials in the chemical, oil refining, power and other industries; in the construction field, they can be used as structural supports, water pipelines, etc.; in the transportation field, they are used for the manufacture of automobile and ship parts, etc.

However, carbon steel pipes also have certain limitations, such as being prone to rust in humid or corrosive environments. Therefore, in such scenarios, anti-corrosion treatments such as galvanizing and painting are usually required to extend their service life.
