Oil pipelines are the core carriers of oil and gas energy transportation, possessing advantages such as stable transportation, low energy consumption, high safety, and strong continuity. They are the “underground arteries” ensuring national energy security. With the continuous improvement of the national oil and gas pipeline network layout, trunk pipelines and regional branch networks are increasingly interconnected, gradually forming a modern storage and transportation system with wide coverage, flexible scheduling, and efficient transportation. This effectively addresses the problem of regional energy supply and demand imbalances, continuously ensuring a stable energy supply for refining enterprises, industrial parks, and residential use.
Recently, several key domestic oil pipeline projects have been successfully put into operation, further expanding the capacity of the backbone pipeline network. The successful commissioning of several sections of a 10-million-ton-level crude oil pipeline in East China has significantly improved the efficiency of transporting imported crude oil from coastal areas to inland refining bases, addressing regional transportation capacity shortages and optimizing the energy storage and transportation structure in eastern China. Simultaneously, the upgrading and renovation of aging pipelines, the management of potential hazards, and the improvement of corrosion prevention are progressing smoothly across various regions, reducing pipeline operation risks at the source and comprehensively enhancing the stability and service life of the pipeline network.
Intelligent transformation has become a core trend in the current development of the oil pipeline industry. The industry is widely promoting new technologies such as intelligent monitoring, unmanned inspection, fiber optic early warning, and intelligent corrosion detection. Relying on digital platforms, 24-hour real-time monitoring of the entire pipeline is achieved, accurately identifying safety hazards such as third-party construction, external damage, and pipeline anomalies, enabling early risk warnings and rapid problem handling. Compared to traditional manual inspection methods, intelligent operation and maintenance systems effectively eliminate blind spots in inspections, significantly improving the accuracy of pipeline safety management and operation and maintenance efficiency, and driving the transformation of pipeline management from “passive response” to “proactive prevention.”
In terms of safety management and compliant operation, the industry continues to implement relevant regulations on pipeline protection, routinely conducts hazard inspections along pipeline routes, carries out safety awareness campaigns and special rectification actions, strengthens supervision throughout the construction process, and standardizes pipeline operation and maintenance procedures. Through standardized construction, meticulous operation and maintenance, and routine inspections, the industry comprehensively strengthens the safety defenses of oil pipelines, effectively preventing safety accidents such as leaks and damage, and ensuring that the entire oil and gas transportation process is safe, controllable, and environmentally friendly.
